Out of this World

Love lustrous silver and gold? I sure do, in fact, I believe I do not have enough of it, which is why I was suprised to read that Scientists are suggesting that our world has more metals than it was originally destined to. Recent speculations are leading scientists to believe that the collision with a large mass just after the big bang melted earth materials and lead to the formation of our valued metals : gold, silver, titanium and palladium. Well I sure am grateful!

Fancy that

Romanticism - not the music period

I've never been a big believer of love. Not family love, i'm talking about LOVE love. Heart fluttering, body numbing, sweeps me off my feet Love. What sticks me about 'love' is that people 'in love' still do the shit that people not in love do - shit you're not supposed to. MAYBE because people don't know the difference between "i really really really like you" and "I love you". I don't blame em either, it's not like you can accurately define 'love' - it's a subjective emotion. Perhaps the ambiguity of the word is the reason people say it too early, get married and divorce; divorce rates are up to 40% for Australia by the way. Look it up. MAYBE it attributes to the fact that people use the word 'love' so frequently that it's lost it's significance. It's lost it's suave, it's umph, and in plain sight, it's just not as romantic as it used to be when it graced the lips of Gene Kelly.

Anyway, despite this, I've been loving (forgive the repetition), particularly recently, romantic movies.  While many movies can't quite articulate good romantic scenes, the gestures sure do provide the kick.

For example-
John Cusack standing outside Diane's window in the middle of the night, with a boombox that's playing Their song in Say Anything
Paul (Fred) Varjak loving Holly for all that she is, quirky flaws and all in Breakfast At Tiffany's
Or, Noah reading Their history to Allie every day to bring her back in The Notebook

Dirty Dancing
Gone with the Wind
Pretty Woman
When Harry Met Sally
Sleepless in Seattle
City of Angels
10 Things I Hate About You
Titanic
Casablanca
You've Got Mail
Something's Gotta Give
Bridgette Jone's Diary
When A Man Loves A Woman
Can't Buy Me Love
While You Were Sleeping
A Walk to Remember....

Despite my skepticism of True Love, I think I still watch them in hope that Hollywood Love still exists. I guess it'd be nice to see it transcend the everyday love for a family, friends and a comfy bed.

Russh

Not until I read December's Russh, did I find out that the sisters, Sienna n Savannah released their own clothing line :O. OKAY! So it actually came out around April this year..... yes, well. Ahem, anyway! It's actually really cool, not because it's by the sisters themselves, but the details are gorgeous. Check out the AW10 Collection at www.twenty8twelve.com/collection/aw10 My opinion? The1st and 3rd last look, mwah faves, although I really do fancy all of 'em

BTW, as was noted in several SS11 collections, block sandals from the 90s are back in!

Richard Nicoll

In addition to what's featured on my blog, it's also a given for this season to hunt for off shoulder dresses or diamond bear backed tops, as well as fresh ways to incorporate leopard skin...And by fresh, I mean, non tacky. Leather is delish, and bold colours work. Transparent layers are a must, and lace is chic....or trashy, depending on how you wear it!

This season's all about FREEDOM of expression. For me, a rule of thumb is...
" Most things look good, given that fitted "

A Touch of Rain

I'M TRAPPED O____O

It's raining (ugh..), heavily and constantly, and the sun's been gone for at least a week! It's very depressing. Aaand, being a girl that....

Has no car (or license for that matter)
Has a cheap $5 umbrella that's willing to turn on her at any given chance
Has a bad habit of getting hooked to online tv and snacks

I'm doomed. Give it another week and i'll be an unhealthy, unfit, vit D deficient girl with nothing but a crappy umbrella and a bowl of indo mee goreng. Lovely.

Come back Mr. Sun!!

Bully Words

A "Bully Word" is the 1 powerful word that embodies your insecurities. It's the word that represents what people say to you or about you to hurt you, or just as equally what you can't let go because it's been driven so hard into you.

Coupled with your Bully Word, is your "Power Word". Your Power Word is the silver lining to your Bully Word; much like a synonym that draws out the strength, beauty or positive part of your insecurity.

Right, so i'm not a ditz, I realise the names of these Words sound tacky and cheesey, or like they're out of an Astroboy comic, but recognising them helps.... I think. They're supposed to.

My Bully Word is inadequate.
And although I haven't yet figured out my Power Word, that's okay because at least i'm half way there.

So, I'll ask you.
                                       What's Your Bully Word?
Or more importantly,
                         What's your Power Word?

SUMMMMMMMERRRRRR

Exams are OVER. Thank the Lord. After praying for the holidays, it's time to pray that I pass!

Anyway, with the 3+ months at my disposal, I find myself, with laptop at hand, overwhelmed by the freedom and possibilities of Summer. This Summer, I will be learning French (will be tackling Italian and Spanish soon after), the guitar (i.e, more than the one petty cover) and makin coffee....to go shopping!! Good riddance to a crappy year.

Alrighty, so the little dramas on show these holidays are....
. Gossip Girl ---- for Chuck and Blair
. Grey's Anatomy
. One Tree Hill re runs

Summer LOVES
- Not a fan of the pastels, but neutrals are very hot. Check out Chloe's Summer 2011 pieces s2
- Boots - in the form of cowboys or ankles, or leather rocker boots

- Ripped and studded denim shorts... In fact, ripped anything is hot
- Bronzed, Natural make up .... very very sexy. Maybelline Colour Studio's is very pigmented with metallic high lights that give's that extra UMPH! Give Me Gold, below, is a dream weaver

- Sunscreen, or a tinted moister. Try Natio. It's light, has coverage and is good with sensitive skin!
- Brissy Band: The Last Dinosaurs remind me of Temper Trap when they first started out, check out Honolulu

Heaps more ideas but i'll post them as they come

Racism

so as I was procrastinating the night before my biology final, i came across a Tyra Banks Show link about racial perceptions.

The study:
A bunch of people of different races and heritage were brought together and shown clips of inter racial couples, after which, they were encouraged to share their opinions and thoughts. . . damn, it got nasty, quick!

These people looked pretty normal, the kind you'd see in the supermarkets, or on the bus, but most of them had the strong belief that inter racial relationships were wrong. It was described as selling out, impure, and they were ashamed of it. One guy was so ashamed of his race, and admitted to forcing his mother to choose between her religion and her son. She chose her son. There was also a consensus on the belief that Seeks, Arabs and Muslims were out to destroy everyone else. What came to me most, and i guess i seemed a bit prejudice in this sense, but, everyone in that room, the asians, african americans, muslim, middle eastern, caucasian...they were ALL racist. Not just the white guy =/

Firstly, and i think we ALLLL agree here, inter racial babies are the cutest things, and they turn out pretty damn hot. you know what i'm talking about!

Secondly, while the tragedy of 9/11 did give rise to a negative racial image of Seeks and crew, the perpetrators were not representative of their people. They were just crazy people that got a lot of attention. Hell, we should be looking out for all the sciencey kids at school. They look all innocent, but they're exacting revenge by becoming evil scientists out to take over the world.

Another episode on the Tyra Show, which is fabulous, was about this family...who belong in the 1920s, really....who were raising their children by nazi and KKK discourses. They encouraged their children to attend cross burning sessions (who DOES this anymore?!), and their children were absolutely convinced that Jewish people stole everything from everyone else, and that coloured people belong only in Africa.

People, this is absolutely ridiculous and it can end with us. God, before today i thought this shit only existed in To Kill A Mocking Bird

p.s check out more crazy shi* on the Tyra Show like, 15 yr old kid tryna have a baby and get married, and 500 lb lady wanting to get to 1000 lb

Lonely Juliet

Juliet sits alone in her cramped room, reading the dystopian 1984 in her crook wooden chair, feet propped on the windowsill, brows tensed. A warm breeze graces her cheek and she looks up, remembering it’s still light out and watches the clouds dissipate and transform. The taste of the breeze lingers in her lungs, evoking tones of freshly cut grass, woody palms and that tinge of exhaust that floats in from the main road.

A boy with his head hung low walks past the pathway behind her house. He’s dressed in gray and appears to be hauling a nap sack of bricks. Of course, she thinks, that’s very much in season right now. She looks over her shoulder to validate and catches a glimpse of her own leaning tower of textbooks and a nest of a loose leaf papers strewn across the room. Nope. It’s definitely not the holidays. She imagines the mid semester demons crewing their ugly necks around the weekend corner stone and cringes disdainfully. With a deep breath, she wipes her mind clean and returns to her novel, careless as she was 5 minutes ago; seemingly so, at least.

Introducing...

Here's the low down

This blog is about a collage of thoughts from who ever, when ever about what ever. Feel free to comment, it's not my job to sensor. I'm not here to judge, or be judged. I'm not here to act like everything's great, because it's not.

Any myself?
I'm a hater, I'm lover, I'm a pessimistic optimist, I'm a hypocrite, I'm a realist, I'm blunt, I'm an over loaded opinion holding bitch, and I believe in an existentialist hell. But most of all, I'm just finding my way through this two faced world.
